This meeting is organized in the framework of the UNESCO’s chairmanship of the Global Migration Group (GMG) from July to December 2011. The focus of the debate will be on the theme of migration and global environmental change.

The meeting will bring together Principals of the 16 GMG members and will result in a joint statement on migration and global environmental change, two interconnected main concerns for the international community.

In addition, the meeting will be used to further discuss how to strengthen the GMG, its involvement in the Global Forum on Migration and Development - GFMD, and its contribution to the High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development, scheduled for 2013.

The Principals Meeting will take place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France from 11:00am to 1:00pm followed by lunch.
