Task Force on Capacity Development

Pursuant to a decision of the GMG Principals on 14 November 2012 and ensuing recommendation at the GMG working level on 18-19 February 2013, the GMG established a Task Force (TF) on capacity development. The TF seeks to strengthen its ability to centralize and disseminate information on existing capacity development activities; collect, deepen reflection, and share research on existing efforts across different fields to enhance capacity development and related monitoring and evaluation activities. The TF is co-convened by IOM and UNITAR.

The TF supports the GMG priorities with a view to improving understanding, inter-agency cooperation and collaboration so as to promote synergies and avoid duplication in the area of capacity development; exchange information and results on capacity development activities including their assessment and evaluations; establish a more comprehensive and systematic approach to the training needs of migration stakeholders; and identify opportunities for imparting new and innovative approaches to capacity development in the field of international migration and development.
